Job for a Cowboy Accept a New Job with an Old Cowboy
One question MetalSucks gets asked a lot via e-mail and social media is: “Hey, where the heck is going on with Job for a Cowboy?” They released a critically lauded album, Sun Eater, in 2014, but haven’t toured since 2013. Hell, they haven’t so much as updated their Facebook page since last year, when their tour van spontaneously combusted. At that time, JFAC declined to give a comment to MetalSucks, and their label, Metal Blade, told us that all the members were “deep in day job land” and not to expect an official announcement from the band anytime soon.
Welp, “anytime soon” is over: Metal Injection reports that Job for a Cowboy will play at Modified Ghost Fest, which is scheduled for April 4-7 in Vancouver, BC. Furthermore, the band will be re-joined by drummer Jon “Charn” Rice, who left the band in 2013 (he has since joined Scorpion Child).
Which is terrific news! Job for a Cowboy are beasts, and Charn is a monster. Hopefully means more activity from the band soon.
It also hopefully means Rice is studying up on his Sun Eater: he left Job for a Cowboy before they recorded that album (Danny Walker of Intronaut and Uphill Battle fame, drummed for the studio sessions). I hate to be so greedy — it’s so great that JFAC are doing anything — but it would be a little sad to hear an album as good as Sun Eater go unrepresented live.
