Rhapsody of Fire Shred it Up in “Distant Sky”

It’s a Power Metal Party kinda week here at the MetalSucks Mansion! First we were treated to Primal Fear’s new one “Rulebreaker,” from the forthcoming album of the same name, and now we get a track from Rhapsody of Fire, whose new album comes out TODAY! Huzzah!

Rhapsody of Fire, of course, are a totally different beast than Primal Fear even if they fall under the general power metal umbrella. Whereas the latter bow down at the alter of Judas Priest and Accept, Rhapsody of Fire (formerly just Rhapsody) are much more new school, completely over the top in every way. Nonstop shred, a breakneck pace, soaring vocals. Put another way, Rhapsody of Fire were Dragonforce before Dragonforce were Dragonforce.

So check out “Distant Sky” below and see what you think. If you’re into this kinda stuff you’ll probably like it a lot, but if you can’t stand over-the-top power metal I doubt this track will make any new converts.
