The New Entombed AD Track Doesn’t Reinvent The Wheel (And That’s Good)
When Entombed AD first crossed my radar, I was a little skeptical. The whole ‘specific line-up of a legendary band’ thing always feels a little forced to me. But then I caught them opening for Deicide last year, and they blew me away. Sometimes, you want that classic Entombedish grinding melodic death metal, and whatever incarnation of the band they may be, Entombed AD scratches that itch convincingly.
Case in point, the first new track from their upcoming album, “Midas In Reverse” (so when you touch gold, it becomes flesh, I guess?). It’s exactly what you expect from it, which is the biggest compliment one can pay to it. You’ve got the contagious guitar parts, the driving pace, the bellowed-but-not-growled vocals — everything you crave when the need to listen to some Entombed hits you.
Check out the track below. The new record, Dead Dawn, comes out February 26th.
