Devin Townsend and Steve Vai: Together Again
As you probably know unless you’re a schmuck like me who completely failed to put it together for fifteen years, in 1993, when Strapping Young Lad was but a glimmer in his eye, a then-twenty-one-years-old Devin Townsend sang vocals for Steve Vai on the album Sex & Religion. In addition to some fine music, this collaboration yielded some very 1990s promo photos which we can now chuckle at.
Hey, don’t judge. Nobody came out of that decade looking especially good.
ANYWAY, it would appear that Townsend and Vai are now working together again. Metal Injection noticed the below tweet from this past Friday:
Recording vocals for a song by @stevevai today. Its a good experience.

Obviously, at this point, we can only speculate as to the nature of this team-up, although it sounds like it’s just Townsend doing one song for Vai’s next release. Of course, what fans will really want to know is if Devy’s mohawk will also be making a return appearance. That ship has probably long since sailed, but hey, a fella can dream, can’t he?
Listen to Sex & Religion below if you’ve never heard it before, or just, y’know, wanna listen to it again.
