Videos: Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt and Shinedown Perform STP Covers Live in Honor of Scott Weiland
Following in the footsteps of Corey Taylor and Halestorm, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and Shinedown members Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers both payed homage to Scott Weiland this week by performing live Stone Temple Pilot covers.
Bettencourt took on “Creep,” and it by far the most moving tribute to Weiland we’ve heard yet; the song’s lyrics achieve a whole new level of sadness now that Weiland is dead, and Bettencourt’s voice, it turns out, is a perfect fit for the song.
Meanwhile, those two dudes from Shinedown performed “Big Empty.” There’s a lot of yarling going on here. I’m including it because I know Vince would want me to.
