18-Year-Old Sitar Player Rishabh Seen Covers Animals as Leaders’ “Tooth & Claw”
18-year-old Indian sitar phenom Rishabh Seen has been impressing the pants off of us since summer, when we first discovered his cover of Animals as Leaders’ “Tempting Time” played in incredibly creative fashion on the sitar. Since then Seen released another AAL cover (“Wave of Babies“) and then varied things up a bit with his own version of Meshuggah’s “Bleed.” The dude is insanely talented; it’s just so awesome to see and hear music we love performed in a way we never expected it to be.
Seen’s latest, which comes to us via Gear Gods, brings things back to Seen’s first love, Animals as Leaders, this time for the track “Tooth & Claw” from their 2014 release The Joy of Motion. As usual, it’s a fun rendition on a track you already know, made all the more impressive and entertaining by the most unorthodox (to American ears, anyway) musical approach. And Seen is an absolute beast on the sitar!
Rishabh Seen has his own band Mute the Saint, and on December 1st Metal Injection will be releasing the very first track by the band. Exciting! Pumped to hear that. A full record will be coming out in February 2016.
