Our Oceans (ex-Cynic, Dodecahedron, Exivious) Stream New Album
The month we told you about Our Oceans, the new group featuring guitarist Tymon Kruidenier and bassist Robin Zielhorst — who played together in Cynic for a spell between 2009 and 2011 — along with guitarist Michel Nienhuis (also in Exivious) and drummer Jasper Barendregt, both of whom play together in titanic death metal outfit Dodecahedron.
Today we get to stream Our Oceans’ self-titled debut album in full. Cynic is probably the closest sonic touchstone here, but even Cynic’s good-time vibes seem heavy in comparison. This is super-chilled out music for super-chilled out times; tasty and proggy and jazzy and soulful, melodic yet complex, a delight to listen to either in the background or under a microscope, for prog nerds or casual music fans alike. This album has a lot to offer and should appeal to music fans of all types, a rare feat in today’s hyper-niched climate.
