Rob Scallon Wrote a Metal Song Using Only One Fret (but Many Different Notes!)
Every time Internet guitar guy Rob Scallon puts out a new video I feel obliged to bow respectfully in his general direction. How does he still come up with fresh, fun concepts after releasing who knows how many clips? It can’t be easy. Whenever Axl and I are brainstorming content for MetalSucks we find that nothing gets ideas flowing quite like firing up a doob — which could be either a godsend or a problem, depending on who you ask — and though we’re not sure how Scallon does it, don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, dude.
Scallon’s latest: a track written entirely on one fret, but utilizing different strings and some wicked bends to create a surprisingly cohesive song and melody. It’s a super-fun idea, the song’s catchy and, at less than two minutes running time the joke doesn’t get old before the song ends. Enjoy:
