Romanian Club Fire: Goodbye to Gravity’s Bassist Dies
Metal Hammer reports that Alex Pascu, bassist for Goodbye to Gravity, has passed away due to injuries sustained during the catastrophic fire at their Bucharest show. This leaves vocalist Andrei Galut the only surviving member of the band after drummer Bogdan Enache’s death earlier this week and the deaths of guitarists Vlad Telea and Mihai Alexandru during the fire itself.
Our sincerest condolences go out to Pascu’s family and friends.
This brings the death toll of the fire, which caused the arrests of the club’s owners and the resignation of Romania’s prime minister, to 51.
Sorin Cimpeanu, interim prime minister, announced that the families of those victims still in the hospital will receive between €1350 and €7500 (approximately $1,400 – $8,000) a month as part of a financial aid program, and says a social assistance campaign is currently being devised by the government.
We’ll be releasing information about how you can help the victims of this tragedy later today, so please stay tuned.
