Delores Rhoads, Mother of Randy Rhoads, Dead at 95
Metal Hammer reports that Delores Rhoads, mother of legendary metal guitarist Randy Rhoads, has passed away. She was 95.
In her late 20s, Delores founded the Musonia School of Music in Hollywood, where her son Randy learned to play his first guitar. She has been a dedicated teacher of music her entire life, and since Randy’s death in a plane crash while on tour with Ozzy in 1982 has been active in keeping her son’s legacy alive.
Ozzy Osbourne issued the following statement:
“I am deeply saddened to hear of Mrs Rhoads’ passing. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed. I have no doubt she is reunited with her son, Randy.”
Rudy Sarzo, longtime bassist for Ozzy and Quite Riot, said the following:
“The world today has lost one of the most gracious and sweetest ladies I’m blessed to have known, Delores Rhoads. Please keep her and the Rhoads family in your prayers.”
Everyone at MetalSucks sends our deepest condolences to Delores’ friends and family.
