“Writing’s on the Wall”: Sam Smith’s Spectre Theme Gets a Metal Cover
In case you’ve somehow missed the promotional blitz: the new James Bond movie, Spectre, opens in the U.S. tonight (it was released a couple of weeks ago in the UK, where, surprise!, it’s making truckloads of money). And, as has been the case with the post of the Bond films, Spectre has a theme song performed by a big pop idol. Specifically, Sam Smith.
It’s pretty bad.
Still, that hasn’t stopped someone from trying to metal this thing up. And that someone is Martin Szorad.
So does making the track more metal improve the quality? Uh… mildly? At least the guitars are there to keep you awake. But it still seems like an underwhelming, hook-free mess that never really goes anywhere or builds to anything.
Check it out below and see if you disagree with me. For more fun with 007, check out these metal covers of Adele’s theme from Skyfall.
