Avenged Sevenfold Recruit Former Bad4Good Drummer
In a new interview with Chris Jericho, Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows reveals the identity of the band’s latest drummer: Brooks Wackerman.
Aside from having the best name for a drummer ever, Wackerman brings years of experience to the table. And I do mean years: dude got his start in Bad4Good, the Steve Vai-masterminded teen band, when he was just fourteen. Humorously enough, that band’s first single was called “Nineteen,” despite the fact that no one in the group was older than sixteen. I guess it was meant to be a fantasy?

Wackerman has amassed a shit ton of other credits, too (Infectious Grooves, Bad Religion, Tenacious D, Munky’s Fear and the Nervous System), but none of them are as much fun to talk about as Bad4Good.
ANYWAY, congrats to Wackerman for landing the job. He’s the band’s fourth drummer, replacing Arin Ilejay, who was let go in July due to the usual “creative differences” thing. Apparently, the band has flirted with putting Wackerman behind the kit since the death of their original drummer, The Rev, in 2009. So hopefully, he’s the band’s last drummer, too.
