Listen: Devil You Know Cover Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”

In what seems like an attempt to recreate some of the success Killswitch Engage had covering Dio, Devil You Know (which features ex-KSE vocalist Howard Jones, duh) have covered Survivor’s inspirational anthem, “Eye of the Tiger.” Generally speaking, I like DYK, but I think this is pretty bad. Obviously, this song is always gonna be fairly cheesy, but the decision to turn it into a Five Finger Death Punch song isn’t doing it any favors. And I cannot stand the way HoJo’s vocals have been produced. The band’s new album, They Bleed Red, was recorded by Josh Wilbur, who has done some great work in the past with bands like Lamb of God and Gojira, but here it feels like HoJo has just been way, way over-polished.
