Dave Navarro’s Documentary About His Mom’s Murder Will Apparently Be A Nine Inch Nails Video

In 1983, Contance Navarro, the mother of guitarist Dave Navarro, was murdered by her boyfriend John Riccardi. Navarro later appeared on America’s Most Wanted, and Riccardi was apprehended. All of this is very tragic, and our hearts go out to Dave for that loss.

…however.

Navarro has made a documentary about the murder of his mother, and he’s released a trailer for it. And it’s… well, it’s like an industrial music video from the ’90s:

And sorry, but that just feels like a really stylized, over-the-top way to discuss a very real tragedy. If you’re talking about a horrific moment with due respect and tact, is it right to do so with all the trappings of a horror movie like Se7en? That’s unnecessary in my book.

We all know Navarro is a super-edgy rock star, and I guess he felt the need to not dress up this horrible event too much, but Jesus, all the close-up shots of yellowed teeth and heroin needles, it just feels wrong. It’s like they’re trying to sell this as dangerous and risky, and that’s fucked up. Paradise Lost, the documentary about the West Memphis 3, was dark and visceral without being so overdone.

Anyway, that might just be the trailer. Let’s see if the movie itself has a bunch of weird taxidermy and outdated medical equipment thrown in.
