Former Obituary and Gorgoroth Bassist Frank Watkins Dead At 47

Frank Watkins, longtime bassist for Obituary and Gorgoroth, died this weekend after a battle with cancer. He was 47.

Watkins played bass in Obituary from 1989 to 1997, and again from 2003 to 2010, playing on such groundbreaking death metal albums as Cause of Death and The End Complete. Watkins left the band in 2010, apparently under somewhat bitter terms. He played for Norwegian black metallers Gorgoroth under the stage name ‘Bøddel’, the Norwegian word for ‘Executioner.’

Though their split with Watkins might have been less than pleasant, Obituary posted the following on their Facebook:
