Sh*t That Comes Out Today: October 16, 2015
Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to the new Shit That Comes Out Today, your satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up!
[Update: Shining’s International Blackjazz Society was listed here all day Friday. But it’s out next week. Thanks brahs.]

Gorod
A Maze Of Recycled Creeds (Unique Leader)
On a playlist with: Archspire, Soreption, Beyond Creation
Listen A Maze Of Recycled Creeds full stream (here)
Short is the list of technical death metal bands who don’t let their nerdiness control their feels. Gorod has always been the “softer” Soreption — less distortion, more prog, less Swedish, more French. A Maze Of Recycled Creeds is Gorod, like, totally pissed off. There’s a newfound darkness, a newfound heaviness, etc. But! They haven’t lost that rockability which has heretofore characterized them as more, uh, characterful. You’ll hear it when ya hear it.

Rage Against The Machine
Live At Finsbury Park DVD (Eagle Rock)
On a playlist with: Rage Against The Machine
Watch “Bulls On Parade [live]” and “Testify [live]” (here) “Killing In The Name [live]” (here)
How nifty would it be to write about a new Rage Against The Machine studio release? Well, this live DVD is probably as close as we’re going to get. The story goes that if you don’t like Rage Against The Machine, then you’re pretty daft. I mean, holy shit. “Bulls On Parade” is all you need to be convinced. Plus a ton of their other completely iconic and powerful songs. Wasn’t this band a huge in-road to metal for many listeners? Wasn’t this band just the tits in pretty much every way? Power, pedals, politics, and a Harvard degree?
·
Cape Of Bats
Violent Occultism (Broken Limbs)
On a playlist with: Batman
Listen Violent Occultism five tracks (here)
If cleanliness is your thing, get out the wipes. Violent Occultism is like an old and tattered painting of some demonic shit you find in your grandma’s basement, only it turns out that the fucker is cursed and you unleash an ancient evil spawn whose only interests are death and fucking dead bodies! But for real: Cape Of Bats is like punk/sludge evolved, leveled-up to the next echelon of metalness, i.e. the real (read: authentic) one.
·
Ribbonhead
Animals EP
On a playlist with: Disrupt, Disfear, Dropdead
Listen Animals full stream (here)
Crust and fire: the two things fueling Ribbonhead. Oh, and maybe the muscles of dead animals and probably swaths of beer and dope. It’s a post-Jungian philosophy which plays out in Animals: find yourself, but get lost doing it! Powerful, unplugged, too-tr00/destroy-you music will always slay. And here, the hip injections of punk and thrash work wonders. Can you feels it?
·
Wilderness Dream
Wilderness Dream EP (Creator Destructor)
On a playlist with: Sacrifie, Ringworm, Cursed
Listen Wilderness Dream EP full stream (here)
Some bands have the thing. Where they can take one idea and spread it out like butter over an entire album. Wilderness Dream lives the dream with thrashy, semi-melodic, head-bopping jams. And just a smidgen of -core for taste! And it’s consistent all the way through. Not one dull moment, not one undeserved break, and not one reason not to fucking crank this shit and piss off whoever lives above/below/around/inside you.
·
Panopticon
Autumn Eternal (Nordvis/Bindrune)
On a playlist with: Woe, Soar, Mare Cognitum
Listen “Autumn Eternal” (here)
Go ahead and write it down now: Autumn Eternal is easily one of the most comprehensively fucking magnificent black metal albums this year. Shyea, Panopticon’s Roads To The North (2014) was already good enough. But damn: one-man band-man A. Lund has beefed his chops and taken it the next level. Anyway, generalities aside. Words have limited power when describing atmospheric black metal — easy to go on and on and on about postmodern-this and purity-that. Just sink back, close your eyes, crank that shit up, and get lost.
