Rolling Stone Releases List of “50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time”
Yay! Another list over which to argue!!!
Rolling Stone has unveiled their rankings of the “50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums of All Time.” As is the case with all of these kinds of lists, it’s bound to inspire heated debate, and not just because readers may not agree with the pecking order: Guns N’ Roses “had to be disqualified for transcending the form” but KISS and Def Leppard, both of whom were already quite famous by the time most of these other bands showed up on the scene, were not; meanwhile, W.A.S.P. were deemed “too legitimately heavy” to make the cut, but Skid Row, who toured with Pantera and actually did get heavier with every album, were allowed on.
But really: who cares, right? These lists are silly and meaningless and ultimately just a jumping off point for a fun discussion. So read the whole thing here and then come back, and, y’know, discuss!
