Devil You Know Fall Victim to Ass N’ Titties in Aptly Titled New Video for “This is the Way We Die”
Devil You Know have made a bizarre choice in subject matter for their new video “The Way We Die” given vocalist Howard Jones’ history with porn stars. It’s possible this move was deliberate, meant for Jones to poke fun or deflate his own past indiscretions — the bit featuring him holding a fishing pole with a dollar bill on it, for example, is priceless when viewed in that light — but the following quote about the video from drummer John Sankey doesn’t make it seem like that was the point at all, instead hinting that the band simply liked the idea of having some ass n’ titties in their new music video:
There’s nothing more rock ‘n’ roll then spending the night at a Hollywood strip club partying and getting wild with a bunch of sexy porn stars, so when it came time for us to decide on a concept for our latest video shoot that’s exactly what we did. What metalhead doesn’t want to see hot tattooed girls dancing and stripping while listening to heavy guitar riffs, thunderous bass, pummeling drums and HOJO singing about ‘The Way We Die’? It’s the perfect heavy metal storm!
Not that the band would necessary own up to addressing Jones’ past if that were the goal — there’s something to be said for subtlety, and the irony of Jones belting the line “This is the way we die” while having stripper booty rubbed all over his body is just too much — but still, something just feels a little off here.
