Scour: New Band Features Phil Anselmo Alongside Members of Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer, Animosity, and Strong Intention
Does Phil Anselmo ever sleep? I cannot for the life of me figure out how he finds the time to be involved in so many different projects… not that I’m complaining!
The latest band to acquire the legendary vocalist’s talents is called Scour, and Anselmo is far from the only heavy hitter in the line-up: the rest of the band consists of John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Fulgora), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (ex-Animosity), and Jesse Schobel (Strong Intention, Cast the Stone). Holy crap, that’s an impressive gathering of musicians.
Anselmo recently discussed the project during an interview with Hellbound.ca:
“[T]he Scour thing was something that just popped up, and it’s something that I think I can kill, something I can lay it out. They’re short songs. It’s a short EP, and that’s something I can knock out, I guess, after the Danzigs tour. And yes, I said Danzigs, and that’s a long story.”
Anselmo continued:
“I think (there’s) one of the fellows from Cattle Decapitation, but it’s predominantly, in my ear, modern-ish black metal-sounding, thrashy black metal type stuff. I’m going to put my own spin on it. I don’t have to sound like your boy from Gorgoroth (laughter) to get the point across, man. There’s other ways of singing over that style of music, and I shall employ many styles.”
So that definitely sounds promising! Unfortunately, there’s no music for us to hear yet… but the band has launched their Facebook page. You can keep up with ’em there, and we will, of course, let you know when there is music to hear.
