Myrkur Releases Track With Adult Swim, Cements Hate Among Trve Metal Masses
Man, Myrkur is popping off. Not only has the band’s new album (or her new album) received rave reviews, including my own high praise and Excretakano’s approval, but she’s immediately become a darling of the sort-of-but-not-really-into-metal metal crowd, commonly known to dudes in vests as the “hipster crowd.”
Well, the ultra-kvlt should get ready to treat their ulcers, because Myrkur has just done the hipsteriest thing a metal band can do: she’s released a single via Adult Swim’s Singles series. The track’s called “Den Lille Piges Død (The Little Girl’s Death).” You can listen to it below.
What’s most interesting to me is that usually the bands featured by Adult Swim are more, I don’t know, comical than others. Usually, it’s bands like Mastodon or Red Fang, even Slayer, who are more geared towards the beer-swilling loud-laughing party crew. But this track, and Myrkur’s music in general, is so melancholy and haunting. It just doesn’t seem like the type of stuff to go well with Aqua Teen.
Anyway, it’s cool that Adult Swim are featuring interesting underground metal, though maybe they should’ve just, I don’t know, not canceled Metalocalypse. Jackasses.
