If You Liked Seasoning The Obese, You’ll Love Repentrée
Let’s get this out of the way: this isn’t a real thing. We’d love it to be, but it’s not, yet.
Anyway: fans of early Slayer will remember Seasoning The Obese, the parody track by SOD about the unholiest of sins, gluttony. If you’ve never heard this masterful track, listen below and laugh your ass off:
DO YOU WANNA FRY?
What a classic. Plenty of metal bands rely on poop and dick jokes to be funny (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but SOD went with evil food jokes. Hell, there’s a salad reference here. This track rules.
Anyway, I’ve made it very clear that I don’t care for the new Slayer record, Repentless. However, there’s plenty of art out there that I don’t like which comes out much better in parody form. When a song isn’t taking itself too seriously and therefore coming off as some self-important bullshit, I can often appreciate it on a more visceral level.
Therefore, fans of Seasoning The Obese should go check out Repentrée*, our own personal Slayer parody! A pile of greasy carnage stuffed with bready riffs and savory screams and washed down with a cool glass of unholy death, this is the food-based Slayer parody that we’ve all wanted for years, ever since the release of Cod Ate Us All.
Take a bite the tracklisting below. Anyone who submits an actual song version of one of these titles — looking at you, Axeslasher! — gets a signed photograph of Emperor Rhombus eating a hot dog.
