Ritual Killer (Featuring Current and Former Members of Goatwhore) Kill Ritually on Exterminance
Three fun facts about Ritual Killer from New Orleans:
- The band features current Goathwore guitarist Sammy Duet (also ex-Acid Bath) and bassist James Harvey and former Goatwhore drummer Zak Nolan.
- Vocalist Jordan Barlow not only designs all of the band’s merch, but he’s also a highly-sought-after tattoo artist.
- They’re awesome.
It’s that last part which is most important, of course. Given the band’s whole Goatwhore thing, you might assume that Ritual Killer sound exactly like that band, that they were ostensibly the Goatwhore version of Audioslave of Velvet Revolver (weird comparison I know, but you see what I’m getting at). And, sure, there’s definitely some sonic overlap with Goatwhore — there’s a lot of charred-black metal and hypnotically-repetitive song structure — but that’s not a bad thing. Barlow’s style of screaming and phrasing are also really different from those of Goatwhore frontman Ben Falgoust, which makes Ritual Killer very much its own thing.
