There’s only so many times you can listen to a band try and explain the deep unifying secret of life before you just wish they’d play a song about driving your blade through the oncoming enemy as the carrion birds wheel overhead. That’s what Exmortus is for! As far as bands playing straightforward sword metal, Exmortus slay in a professional way. The band has just released a new track, “For the Horde,” via Revolver, and it’s exactly what you expect — a great riff, a compelling gallop, and lyrics about What Is Best In Life. The song will be released on a limited-edition 7″, the other side of which is a cover of Yngwie Malmsteen’s “As Above, So Below.” Fuck yeah, boys. Disney doesn’t know what it’s missing.
