Devin Townsend Announces “An Evening With” Acoustic / Spoken Word Tour

The ever-ambitious Devin Townsend has already finished writing a new Devin Townsend Project record and is working on a symphony. On the other side of the spectrum, he was recently seen jamming with an air conditioner. So perhaps his recently announced acoustic / spoken word tour falls somewhere between those two extremes.

Devin announced the acoustic shows yesterday on Twitter. The tour is being billed as an “Evening With” event — meaning an extended set (or maybe two!) with no openers — where he’ll be playing stripped down versions of his own material and “taking fan requests and even a little spoken-word.”

You know what excites me most about this announcement? The spoken word part of the evening. Devin is SUCH an interesting person, and I could listen to him regale me with stories about the inner workings of his mind, his creative process and his bowel movements for hours and hours. Hopefully some day soon I’ll get to do so in written form via that autobiography he’s been teasing.

The initial run of dates is limited to the UK, but don’t worry, rest of the world: Devin has “a bunch of special things planned for other places in the world coming up as well.” Dates below.
