Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to the new Shit That Comes Out Today, your satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up!

Black Tongue - The Unconquerable DarkBlack Tongue
The Unconquerable Dark (Century Media)
On a playlist with: The Acacia Strain (pre-Coma Witch), The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
Listen “In The Wake Ov The Wolf” (here)

If you don’t like deathcore, you won’t like Black Tongue. For suckers that do (me), The Unconquerable Dark is probably the best deathcore release of 2015. Black Tongue’s songs are hilariously heavy: like quad-downtuned, reverse-echo snare hitting, blurgh blurgh blurgh cringeworthy heavy. There’s really no fluff — no innovation — just the complete mastery.

Iron Maiden
The Book Of Souls (BMG)
On a playlist with: Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest
Read the MetalSucks review (here)
Listen/Watch “Speed Of Light” (here)

It’s not sacrilege to forget about the bands you listened to “way back when.” Piece Of Mind and Powerslave were the hallmarks of any decent adolescence! Kind of makes you wonder how The Book Of Souls will sound 20 or 30 years from now — or come to think of it, how Piece Of Mind and Powerslave will sound when they’re 50. But when we have that conversation, we’ll agree that Iron Maiden always held their own.

Lament CityscapeLament Cityscape
The Torn (Battleground)
On a playlist with: Crown, Dipped In Gold, Hivelords
Listen The Torn full stream (here)

Weird, post-apocalyptic industrial sludge. Imagine trying to market a product with that name: Weird Post-Apocalyptic Industrial Sludge. The types of dudes/gals who’d smear it all over their faces and scream into the heavens while doing a fucking satanic rain dance are the exact kind of people for The Torn.

·

Simple LiesSimple Lies
Let It Kill (Bakerteam)
On a playlist with: In Flames, Complicated Truths
Listen “Symmetry Of Love” (here)

Somewhere between metalcore, powercore, and poopcore lies Simple Lies, a band who just released an album called Let It Kill, which it actually might. It MAY be a common PET peeve to add EXTRA emphasis to every fourth or FIFTH word or so when SINGING so that you pick UP on this certain CADENCE but it doesn’t FLOW with the song.

·

DalkhuDalkhu
Descend Into Nothingness (Iron Bonehead)
On a playlist with: Autopsy, Portal, Cannibal Corpse
Listen Descend Into Nothingness full stream (here)

Dalkhu isn’t the first band to put classic solos and simple riffs into a modern death metal framework. But the tinge of folk, the occasional soft spots, and the up-to-11 production really sells Descend Into Nothingness. It feels unfinished, but that “we sat down and wrote it” quality makes it raw!

·

Ramming Speed - No EpitaphsRamming Speed
No Epitaphs (Prosthetic)
On a playlist with: Revocation, Trap Them, Holy Grail
Listen No Epitaphs full stream (here)

Some thrashy stuff can get complicated, almost proggy. For when you want to throw back to “simpler” times, Ramming Speed balances between rock-solid shred and plain ol’ fun. No Epitaphs is an album you can’t really argue with.
