Babymetal Time! Watch the New Live Video for “Ijime, Dame, Zettai”
Watching Babymetal’s new live video for “Ijime, Dame, Zettai” is making me feel things. GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE GUTTER, SICKOS! Keep your PedoVince jokes to yourself.
A lot was happening in my life when I was most obsessed with Babymetal’s debut album. MetalGF and I took a two-week vacation to Japan, which in itself was a massive headtrip — Japan is a crazy and awesome place! While there, I spent a day with Marty Friedman for a piece that would eventually land in Rolling Stone, ate incredible food for every meal, scaled the highest summits, enjoyed hot spring onsens, rode the bullet trains and generally soaked it all in. Babymetal was my soundtrack, and traveling throughout their home country helped me understand the culture that birthed such a bizarre band. A couple of months later MetalGF became pregnant with our first child, a couple of months after that I got to see Babymetal live for the first time, and a month after THAT their album landed at #1 on my year-end list. It was a crazy fucking six months! A time and a place. Hearing the music now makes me all emotional for that time.
Anyway, check out the video for “Ijime, Dame, Zettai” below. It was shot at last summer’s Sonisphere Festival in the UK and it’s a great representation of their live show, although with way less stage production than what we saw in NYC a few months later.
When will we get more Babymetal music? 2016? Let’s hope.
