Earthside Just Released the Most Impressive/Insane Music Video of 2015
When we got word that New Haven, CT progressive metal outfit Earthside had enlisted an all-star cast of personnel to assist with their new album — guest vocalists Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust), Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT, ex-Skyharbor) and Björn Strid (Soilwork); recording and mix engineer David Castillo (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath); additional mix and mastering engineer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, The Ocean, Devin Townsend); the Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra (MSSO) — we never expected they’d ever be able to wrangle any of those into appearing in a music video along with the band, for no other reasons than the insane logistics and costs that must be involved with such an undertaking.
Not only did Earthside bring in Witherspoon and the entire fucking symphony for their “Mob Mentality” video, but they shot an absolutely gorgeous, cinematic piece, complete with dancers, choreographers, directors, editors, colorists, a conductor, an orchestra contractor and a wardrobe/costume person. Yeezus! This thing must’ve been a massive undertaking. Not to mention an expensive one. Anyone wanna guess how much this thing cost, all-in? $25k? $50k? More?
The resulting video is more professional and astounding than basically any “professional” metal video we see these days from bands that are 100x as popular as Earthside. It’s cinematic, dramatic and absolutely incredible, a full-on performance piece. Watch below via AllMusic.com.
A Dream in Static comes out on October 23rd.
