Well, guys and gals, metal has finally made it. We’re big time now. Mainstream. Respected. Worthy of a TED Talk.

Yes, it’s true: just in time for this weekend’s GWAR-B-Q, the band’s vocalist, Michael Bishop — you probably know him as “Blothar” — discussed music and regional identity as part of The TEDx Program, which “is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection” via “events [which] are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED.”

Okay, so I, guess metal isn’t quite respectable yet, but still… we’re getting closer!
