Ozzy Osbourne Rumored to Be in the New Ghostbusters Movie
When you think about it, Ozzy Osbourne and the Ghostbusters franchise have a lot in common: once upon a time, they represented the very best their respective mediums (no pun intended) had to offer, but then they got kinda sad, and now you’re not sure why anyone feels the need to keep it going in 2015.
Ghostbusters, for its part, is getting a new creative team, which means it has a chance, however slight, of being good. Ozzy isn’t getting a new creative team, but he may be in the new Ghostbusters. The Boston Herald recently published this on-set report:
Our spy on the scene overheard a couple of crew members talking about the Black Sabbath frontman outside the theater where Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones were working.
And posters outside the theater advertised a “Rock Revenge Fest featuring Ozzy Osbourne” as part of a “12 Hour Marathon of Metal.”
The Wang marquee was transformed into the Stonebrook Theatre for the shoot, with the legend “Rock Out With Your Metal Out.”
Seems plausible: we already knew that the film was looking for metalheads to play extras, suggesting that metal does play into the story somehow, and Ozzy a) is a household name, which is to say, he’s perfect for a mainstream comedy, and b) he’ll do anything if you pay him to show up, as evidenced by his acting career to date.
Ghostbusters is currently set for release on July 22, 2016. Presumably, we’ll know if Ozzy is actually in it or not sometime between now and then.
