Is Dave Grohl One of Ghost’s Nameless Ghouls?
Part of the fun of Ghost is their mystique. Who are these mysterious, hooded men (and/or women)? What drives them? Do they pull their pants down and pee just like us mere mortals?
One such mere mortal: rock music’s reigning coolest guy, everyman Dave Grohl. Ever since he collaborated with Ghost on a covers EP in 2013 speculation has been running rampant that Grohl is one of the Nameless Ghouls. And while that seems HIGHLY unlikely — I’m not even going to bother pulling touring history showing that both bands were in different parts of the world at the same time — the idea that Grohl perhaps slips on a Ghost costume now and again (or even did so just once) without anyone knowing is highly amusing. And also completely consistent with the mythos of both Ghost and Grohl, the former known for their mysterious activities and the latter for collaborating with all of his heroes.
And so: this Rolling Stone interview with one of the Nameless Ghouls should add fuel to that fire. When asked whether Grohl has ever performed live with the band, he offered:
Well, we can’t really know, can we? I can tell you this much: He has played Ghost material in a ghoul suit. And he might or might have not have [performed onstage], and he might or might not in the future. How’s that for a commercial cliffhanger?
Not sure how to interpret the above other than that Grohl has either performed with the band live, has donned a suit in one of their music videos, or both. Either way I’m sure we’ll find out sooner or later… Grohl is just too damn excitable to not share this kind of thing with the entire world.
