New Ghost Song “Absolution” Will Resolve You of All Guilt
Remember back in early June when Ghost — who used to be known as Ghost, were then forced to go by Ghost B.C., and now, mercifully, we can once again refer to as simply Ghost — played three new songs live at a show in their hometown of Linkoping, Sweden? A couple of weeks ago we got to hear the official album version of one of those songs, “From the Pinnacle to the Pit,” and now we get to hear another, “Absolution.”
It’s not embeddable, but you can stream it right here! The player only seems to play a clip of the song for me, the Spotify link isn’t available in the U.S. for some dumb reason and the Apple Music thing doesn’t work on desktop devices, so I can’t even hear the full thing. Dumb dumb dumb. But maybe you’ll have better luck with it than I did.
The good news (based on the clip I DID hear) for those who loved Opus Eponymous but weren’t as into Infestissumam is that this track lends credence to what the members of Ghost have been saying about this album since way before we started to hear music from it, namely that it’s bringing back the heaviness of the first record. Big riffs. Hard-driving beat. I like.
Meliora comes out on August 21st. You can get upcoming North American tour dates for Ghost here.
