Koller Be Killed
I’m not a big supergroup fan, and as such didn’t expect much from Killer Be Killed, the band made up of Max Cavalera of Soulfly, Troy Sanders of Mastodon, and Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan. But the band is actually pretty damn good, so I’m excited to see them grow and evolve, and maybe even take on other famed players, should the existing ones grow tired or have other things they need to do.
One such new member is Ben Koller, drummer for Converge, who has officially joined on to Killer Be Killed, replacing Dave Elitch of Antemasque. According to a recent interview with Cavalera regarding the state of KBK’s sophomore record:
“Not writing yet. I don’t write on the road, too chaotic. I’ve got some ideas though. Now I know Greg and Troy and we have Ben Koller playing drums. We’re going to make a kick ass second record.”
When asked if Koller was in full-time, Cavalera said:
“Pretty much. We introduced Ben at Soundwave Festival and asked him to be part of the group. He’ such a great drummer and musician.”
Damn straight. Even if you’re not a big Converge fan, you have to admit that they know what they’re doing with their instruments, and Koller is especially a monster. He should be a great addition to this already-great band.
Whether he’ll be able to truly slay as a member of Killer Be Killed without his trusty humidifier remains to be seen.
