Uneven Structure Release “Funambule,” First New Song in Four Years
Yeesh, it sure has been a long time since Uneven Structure released their last (and debut) album Februus. It doesn’t seem like it’s been THAT long, since the band’s been doing stuff, but a lot has changed since 2011. Most notably, Uneven Structure’s Meshuggah-worshipping sub-genre of choice has become a bit passé.
So how does “Funambule” hold up? Pretty decently, it turns out. “Funambule” is a fun song that has plenty of proggisms for music nerds to sink their teeth into, and the vocals — both the cleans and the growls — are incredibly strong. I don’t know how well the metal world at large is going to receive a full-on djent (sorry, guys) album in 2015 given how many bands populate the genre now, but this one is certainly worthy of a shot, I think.
La Partition doesn’t have a release date yet, but a press release tells us it’ll be out “later this year” via Basick Records.
