Act of Defiance “Refrain and Re-Fracture”

Rock Hard (a German magazine which was apparently founded by people who not understand double entendres) has debuted “Refrain and Re-Fracture,” a new song from Act of Defiance. I really wanna like this band, given their pedigree (two former members of Megadeth, one always member of Shadows Fall), but… I’m just not that into this. Honestly, from a musical standpoint, I have no issues with it — they’re not reinventing the wheel or anything, but it’s solid.

But this band has a major Achilles’ Heel, and that is vocalist Henry Derek Bonner (ex-Scar the Martyr). Everything he does seems cheesy and generic. That was kind of the problem with his Scar the Martyr material, too. The guy just seems like he’s in desperate need of an identity.
