Listen: Cultes Des Ghoules’ “Lucifer” Fully Engorged
Among the bands in your life, a few are best kept to yourself. Cultes Des Ghoules is not one of those bands. But they have that low level of buzz. For CdG is a little band from Poland, with obscure and expansive deathy black metal filling releases on tiny labels. Their profile seems to say, Check back with us when we’ve matured and sharpened. But their jams, like the five monsters on 2013’s Henbane (Hells Headbangers), imply a renown equal to a BTBAM from the center of the Earth or a bizzarro Meshuggah that’s as primal as the real one is orderly. But no, though their vibe is huge, their profile remains tiny.
So fans must be especially dying to behold CdG’s next album, for a game-changer it may be. This week, the wait got easier — a new EP is out now (below, on a tiny label). But it got harder: The Rise Of Lucifer‘s existence implies a longer wait, its brevity is cruel (one of two tracks is a cover, ah nuts!), and its awesomeness ups the anticipation of their next full odyssey. Basically it’s 15 minutes of “good problem.” Crank it up!!!!
