Emperor Rhombus’ Best of 2015… So Far
2015 has thus far been like dropping a deuce in the Vatican–it seemed like a great adventure while planning for it, but by halfway through I just want to be done with it. During my recent increased participation in this site (just kidding, guys, this is Axl!), I’ve been blasted in the face by the full weight of the ongoing metal scene, and it has killed many of my musical taste buds. Unlike last year, when I found myself overwhelmed by exciting new releases, this year has been about sparing moments of brilliance glittering among the fields of utter crap.
Here’s what I’ve been listening to.
Amestigon – Thier (World Terror Committee)
Crypt Sermon – Out of the Garden (Dark Descent Records)
Enforcer – From Beyond (Nuclear Blast)
Ensiferum – One Man Army (Metal Blade)
Exgenesis – Aphotic Veil (Rain Without End Records)
Frosthelm – The Endless Winter (Black Werk)
High on Fire – Luminiferous (eOne Music)
Infernus – Grinding Christian Flesh (Moribund Records)
King Parrot – Dead Set (Housecore Records)
Leviathan – Scar Sighted (Profound Lore)
Melechesh – Enki (Nuclear Blast)
Outer Heaven – Diabolus Vobiscum (Melotov Records)
Power – Heavy Muscle (Twelve Gauge Records)
Satan’s Wrath – Die Evil (Metal Blade)
Sigh – Graveward (Candlelight)
Temple of Dagon – Revelations of the Spirit (Black Voodoo)
The Ugly – Decreation (ViciSolum Productions)
That’s pretty much it for now. We’ll see how I feel about the new Clutch album later this year.
