Too Soon? Excretakano’s Best of 2015… So Far
Honestly, I’m a little disappointed with my list this June. Not the quality – these records are as solid as it gets, and if the bottom half of the calendar evaporated, I’d be happy to select the year’s best from these alone. It’s just that anyone perusing my purchasing patterns for the past five years or so could have written most of this list without thinking too hard. Where are the surprises? Sure, the new Bosse-de-Nage record is the first to catch my full attention, but I’ve had that band on Stand-By for a few years now. And the Volahn record, kickass as it is, remains a dubious selection given that it technically existed in some form before the January 1 cut-off. I guess Sarpanitum are new to me, and a more jaded me wouldn’t have imagined those Entrails and Gruesome albums showing up here.
It’s also likely I’ve forgotten to include some very deserving titles. But I don’t like to think of my own fallibility. No, if you think of a great 2015 record missing from this list, better to believe that I’ve discarded it as shit. And since I’ve decided the issue, you now realize it’s shit and accept my silent scolding for the blessing it was meant to be. Don’t you feel so lucky to have me around?
