Sh*t That Comes Out Today: June 16, 2015
Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to another ass-kicking Shit That Comes Out Today, your satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and now, we stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up!
·
Pale Chalice
Negate The Infinite And Miraculous (Gilead)
On a playlist with: False, Castevet, Ludicra
Listen “Weltering Depths Of The Carrion Wave” (here)
If your black metal isn’t raunchy enough, then Pale Chalice has the solution! In line with that bomb-ass album artwork, expect tons of harsh and confusing layers of grit and grime. Negate The Infinite And Miraculous is an extremely progressive album, but its pretensions (if any) don’t get in the way of its ability to crush and grind its way into your skull! Bonus: Check out False’s new release, also out on Gilead.
·
Mefitic
Woes Of Mortal Devotion (Nuclear War Now!)
On a playlist with: Sperm Of Antichrist, Irreverent, Venom
Listen Woes Of Mortal Devotion full stream (here)
The background description for Woes Of Mortal Devotion reads: “the approach to this album is notably less chaos-driven and instead more controlled than previous recordings.” Foregoing a listen to Mefitic’s previous release (a recommended listen), it’s hard to tell what they’re on about: Woes is horrifically chaotic! If you need the grimiest, most pestilent punch in the dick, here it is.
·
The Ongoing Concept
Handmade (Solid State)
On a playlist with: Fit For A King, Adestria, Glass Cloud
Listen “The Ongoing Concept” (here)
Despite being slightly scene-conscious, The Ongoing Concept writes some damn good party music. You’ll most likely hate it at first, but just let it sink in! There’s clean singing and simplistic drums/guitars, but packaged with the maniac screaming and proggy overtones, Handmade actually feels kind of handmade! No surprise given they built their own instruments?
·
Lucifer
Lucifer I (Rise Above)
On a playlist with: Ghost, The Devil’s Blood, The Oath
Watch“Izrael” (here)
Listen Lucifer I full stream (here)
If you’re a fan of Ghost, you’ll likely be a fan of Lucifer. It’s old occult rock with female vocals and lots of echo. And it’s going to turn off a lot of metal folk, cause image is important here. But defenders shall reign! Like Ghost, there’s a lot of content underneath Lucifer’s sexy exterior, and they know how to write evil almost-metal with all the necessary catchiness/kitchiness.
·
Iwrestledabearonce
Hail Mary (Artery)
On a playlist with: being shit on
Listen “Erase It All” (here) “Wade In The Water” (here) “Gift Of Death” (here)
No, no, no, no, no, no. No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. No. No. No, no, no, no. No. Fuck.
·
Tempel
The Moon Lit Our Path (Prosthetic)
On a playlist with: Elder, Primitive Man,
Listen The Moon Lit Our Path full stream (here)
Read Excretakano MetalSucks review (here)
For the full low-down, you must read Excretakano’s on-point review of this solid-as-fuck instrumental album. To add: I’d have given The Moon Lit Our Path an extra half-horn solely on the basis of how groovy it is. To get Elder-levels of crunch and power but with all the added hooks is truly an achievement in itself! All hail Tempel — hot damn this album seriously rocks.
