Lamb of God’s Sturm Und Drang to Feature Guest Appearances by Members of Deftones and The Dillinger Escape Plan
As if you weren’t already salivating to hear Lamb of God’s new album, Sturm Und Drang, the band has now announced that Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno will make an appearance on a song entitled “Embers,” while The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato will guest on a track called “Torches.” Besides the fact that those are two very talented dudes, there a couple of things that are interesting about this. Specifically:
- The titles of the two songs seem are both related to fire… and they appear to be the only two songs on the album that have this thematic relation (at least, in their titles). I don’t know if this means there’s any actual relationship between the two songs, but it does seem like quite the coincidence.
- If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time LoG have had any guest appearances since Alex Skolnick (Testament) and Chris Poland (ex-Megadeth) contributed solos to the title track of 2004’s Ashes of the Wake. (Amanda Munton did some guest vocals on 2012’s Resolution, but I don’t think many metal fans were like “OMG THE AMANDA MUNTON?!?!”, so I’m not counting her. Sorry, Ms. Munton.)
In any case, Moreno and Puciato’s cameos should add some interesting flavors to the record, seeing as they both have very different vocal styles from that of Randy Blythe.
Sturm Und Drang is out July 24. For more intel on the album, listen to our new podcast interview with drummer Chris Adler here.
