MetalSucks is a proud sponsor of this year’s Summer Slaughter tour featuring Arch Enemy, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, The Acacia Strain, Obscura, After the Burial, Cattle Decapitation and Beyond Creation. We’ve asked one member of every band on the tour to assemble a themed playlist for our Idol Listening series and we’ll be counting down one per week until the tour begins in late July. Get dates for Summer Slaughter right here to make sure you don’t miss it!

Metal bands frequently tell us they don’t listen to any metal in the van, yet yours is an [almost] all-metal playlist. Do you guys listen to metal in the van frequently?
That depends on the night and mood everyone is in. Why not listen to the music you love after a show? We get a lot of demos and full albums from the bands of our fans during a tour, usually metal. Open your ears for upcoming bands and combine that with the classics of old heroes. Usually we end up listening to metal.
Favorite Led Zeppelin album?
Recently I bought the live recording Celebration Day – great sound, performance and mix. I love this live recording and play it more often than the regular albums.
Which member of Obscura is most capable of nailing Freddie Mercury’s highs?
That must be Linus.
Have you ever met Yngwie?
Not yet, but all of his interviews are instant classics and I’d love to see him perform at least once.
Which band on Summer Slaughter are you most excited to see?
Beyond Creation. Fantastic live band and phenomenal musicianship. Aside from Arch Enemy and Beyond Creation I haven’t had the chance to see any of the other bands yet, so I am looking forward to seeing all of them.
