First Live Photo of Ghost’s Papa Emeritus III; Band Performs Four New Songs in Sweden
UPDATE, June 4, 10:30am EST: We now have fan-filmed footage of all three new songs. Watch here.
MetalSucks reader Marcus L. contacted us this evening with a very juicy payload: the first ever live photo of Ghost’s newly minted singer and leader, Papa Emeritus III (really the same dude, but, ya know), taken at tonight’s gig in the band’s hometown of Linköping, Sweden.
He also gave us an account of the show, which included four brand new songs, three of which the public had yet to hear:
Ghost (B.C.) played live in Linköping, Sweden tonight local time at the venue Doom.
This was the first appearance of Papa Emeritus III and they played 4 new songs in the set. Besides the live debut of “Cirice” they played “From the Pinnacle to the Pit,” “Majesty” and “Absolution.” The Nameless Ghouls also debuted their new masks.
They opened with “Genesis” and after that Papa II entered the stage without robes followed by Papa III. Picture (taken with mobile phone) attached of Papa II and Papa III together onstage.
Here’s that photo:
It’s difficult to tell from this picture, but it seems as if Papa Emeritus III — if he’s the guy on the right — is modeled after the “no makeup” character from their steamy music video for “Year Zero.” The same Papa also led the band during their “Live at Music Feeds” studio performance shoot. But if Papa III is the guy on the left… well, then, he looks just the same as Papa I and Papa II! [UPDATE: the new Papa III is in fact the masked gentlemen on the left]
Of course, if you wanna see what Papa Emeritus looks like without makeup for REALLY REAL… check out this.
So, that happened.
