Video: Westboro Baptist Church Member Sings Christian Version of “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne
The Westboro Baptist Church has made frequent headlines over the past few years with their highly homophobic protest rallies. They’ve also been extremely vocal against metal: it’s the devil’s music, we’re all satan worshippers, we’ll all burn in hell, yadda yadda.
So imagine our surprise when MetalSucks video correspondent Brian Storm attended a Westboro Baptist Church rally in Virginia this past Sunday, and former church spokesperson Shirley Phelps-Roper busted out into song with a version of Ozzy’s “Crazy Train” that’s been retro-fitted with God-loving, Christian-appropriate lyrics. Surely this is not what Ozzy had in mind when he wrote this track, but alas… it’s the world we live in.
After Phelps-Roper finishes displaying her golden pipes, Storm gets into a proper interview with her; Phelps-Roper has some interesting views on Slayer, Lamb of God and more, and another member of the church has some choice words for humanity as well.
