Here’s How The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman Broke His Finger Into Three Pieces
Last week we marveled at the toughness (or idiocy, according to the doctor) of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman, who broke a finger in two places prior to a show and then went and played the whole fucking thing anyway.
At the time we didn’t know how the injury occurred — we just chalked it up to Weinman’s typically insane on-stage antics — but now Glenn Fricker’s got the scoop on this week’s edition of MetalSucks weekly news recap show “The Week in Metal,” which premiered yesterday. Right at the top:
In case you’re too lazy to watch, Weinman and producer Kevin Antreassian were in Weinman’s shed collecting gear for the upcoming show when Weinman lost his balance, fell backward, and his finger was crushed by a guitar cabinet. OUCH. Apparently it could’ve been a lot worse, though, as some other falling gear just missed his face. Antreassian administered first aid, and the show went on as planned.
The moral of the story: don’t skimp out on roadies!
