“Praise Abort”: Rammstein’s Till Lindemann and Hypocrisy’s Peter Tägtgren May Have Made the Weirdest Music Video of the Year
Last week Lindemann, the new project from Rammstein’s Till Lindemann and Hypocrisy’s Peter Tägtgren, teased their new video for “Praise Abort” — and that tease was totally bizarre. Which makes sense! Rammstein videos tend to be fairly odd.
Still, I wonder how many of us were prepared for something this assnuts bonkers.
It’s not that the video is especially graphic or anything (although you should definitely NOT watch it at work)… it’s just that it seems to have been co-directed by a schizophrenic Busby Berkeley fan and a sociopathic Fassbinder fan. On top of which, Lindemann’s lyrics are actually in English, not German, which makes it hard to ignore their insanity, mostly about how much he hates his wife and kids because they’re a drain on his bank account (but you shouldn’t assume Lindemann is singing from experience, necessarily — in the song, he has six kids, but in real life, he only has two, so it seems safe to assume that this is a character study, not a confessional).
Watch “Praise Abort” below. Lindemann’s debut album, Skills in Pills, comes out June 23. You can pre-order it here.
