New Sludge 4 U: Goatsnake’s “Grandpa Jones”

If you’re not familiar with Goatsnake we won’t hold it against you; the sludge outfit, which features Sunn O)))’s Greg Anderson, hasn’t released a full-length album in 15 fucking years. Plus, you’d be excused for confusing the myriad metal bands with “goat” and “snake” in their name; we can’t keep that shit straight either.

If it’s the Sunn O))) connection that brought you in, though, best turn your attention elsewhere: Goatsnake has little to do with endless, boring (sorry!) drone and everything to do with gigantic, sludgy, hairy, burly, doom riffs and stoner metal vocals. New track “Grandpa Jones” from their forthcoming album Black Age Blues dropped yesterday via Team Rock, and to say we’re digging it would be putting it lightly. This is exactly what you should be listening to right now, whether your gloomy day needs a little pick-me-up or you wanna keep your awesome afternoon chugging along.
