Meanwhile, Destruction’s Mexican Tour Has Been A Total Sh*tshow
Metal Insider has reported on Destruction’s recent Mexican mini-tour leading up to their North American jaunt with Sepultura and Arsis, and Jesus H. Christ with a boob job, the German thrashers have had one hell of a time with it.
First of all, the band announced four day into the seven-day trek that the promoter had totally abandoned them:
“Yes the rumours are true, the promoter KENNETH PEREZ has left all local organizers and the band behind and ran away! He disappeared the day this tour started …
So also the JUAREZ show is happening tonight and we are working on transportaion for the next concerts! Band and local promoters are trying their best to also make the next concerts a great success and a night to remember!!!”
In case you didn’t know, Juarez is one of the most dangerous cities in the world right now. I can’t imagine how shitty it must feel to realize you’ve been left high and dry in Cartel Central.
But it gets better! The band posted this image to their Facebook, showing the security measures taken at their Queretaro show — a couple of tables shoved up against the stage. Apparently, every security and gear contract the guys signed had been broken.
Apparently, the Queretaro promoters weren’t pleased with being called out online, and responded in the most reasonable manner they could think of: by robbing the band at gunpoint!
The guitar got stolen from the hotel. Fact. Now the thief tries to spread lies. The guitar is the most important thing that s why we would have never forgotten it anywhere!!! That s why we carry it in a carry-on-bag and don t put it in a flightcase on planes etc
The promoter stole it from the hotel storage!!! He carried a gun!!!
After the FB shitstormed the guy he called crying we should take his name off and we would give us the guitar back! So we sent somebody to meet with him and get the guitar back. This guy is full of lies – he tries to save his ass now with more lies. We can not believe all this is really happening …there are borders!!!
STEALING AND CARRING WEAPONS TO THREATHEN BANDS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH METAL!!! WE ARE ALL IN SHOCK!!!
WHAT THE FUCK, MAN? It’s hard to believe that this still happens to bands on tour, especially bands who have been around for so long and have such rabid fanbases. Then again, Mexico is pretty lawless, so the idea of an angry dude robbing your at gunpoint for a slight insult isn’t too insane.
The band has one last show in Chihuahua tonight. Let’s hope it goes better than, well, all the other shows.
Do these guys a favor and give them a warm welcome when they come to your town on their Metal Injection-sponsored tour. Sounds like they need it. Yeesh.
