We Could Have Had a Rock of Love Season with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor
OMG WUT?!?!
During a recent interview with Seatlle’s KISW 99.9 FM, Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor dropped this lil’ bomb (transcription courtesy of Blabbermouth):
“I wanna say about seven years ago, I got called about being on ‘Rock Of Love’. I think Bret had passed on it, on one of the seasons. And I was, like, ‘Don’t ever call me again.’
“Honestly, I was sitting there… I was, like, [trying to figure out] who in their right mind thought I was the perfect dude for ‘Rock of Love 12’ or whatever the hell it was. And I was just, like, there’s some idiots in this business. I’m just letting you know. I don’t know if you got that memo. There’s some stupid people [who] were given the keys to the kingdom.
“I was talking to my manager. I was, like, ‘Where the hell…? What conversation were they having where they went from one end to me? How the hell did you get to me and thought that I would be down with that?’ At first I was pissed, and then I just started laughing my… I was just, like, ‘You’ve gotta be kidding! Really?!’”
HOLY SHIT. I can’t even tell you how disappointed I am that Taylor didn’t seize the opportunity to just troll the living fucking shit out of VH1 and a couple of dozen severely damaged women whose greatest accomplishment in life will very like be giving The Drip to some rockstar during a moment of poor judgment.
I do feel better, however, knowing that even Taylor is bummed that he didn’t do just that:
“In retrospect, I was, like, ‘Man, I should have just done one week and just ruined it.’ [I should done] the complete opposite of what could have been and just destroyed these people’s dreams.”
So at least he recognizes that he squandered a chance to do something really, truly, inarguably special. It’s okay, Corey. We all mistakes. Just learn from it! Someday, when ABC asks you to do Dancing with the Stars or you’re invited to present at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards or whatever, remember this lesson and just say “yes”!
