Sepultura Show Off Their “DarkSide”

Although they haven’t made a really good album in twenty years, every now and then, Andreas Kisser writes a killer a riff that results in a new Sepultura song that’s actually worthy of the name. Recent examples include “Convicted in Life,” “We’ve Lost You,” and now, “DarkSide,” a new song released in conjunction with DarkSide Books.

Granted, “DarkSide” is all of eighty-three seconds long, and not all of those eighty-three seconds are great. But that churning torando-of-evil riff under the verses? That is the sound of someone extremely confident in his nefarious plans entering a room, the dude who walks into a five-against-one fight and has the balls to give his would-be assaulters one last chance to walk away, the kind of guy who only needs to look into your eyes to put the fear of God into you.

I’m saying it’s a good riff.
