Bob Rock Says Jimmy Page and Jack White Both Love Metallica’s St. Anger
Did someone forget to send MetalSucks a press release announcing April as “Lie to Someone Closely Involved with a Terrible Metallica Album About the Quality of that Album to Spare That Person’s Feelings Month”? First, Lou Reed’s widow claimed that David Bowie thought Lulu was amazing; now comes this assertion from producer Bob Rock, made during a recent interview with Talk is Jericho:
“I know Jimmy [Page]. He got up and walked over to me, gave me a big hug, and said, ‘It’s great to see you, I love the St. Anger album.’
“I was at [a movie] premiere, and Jack White came over. He says, ‘I’m Jack White.’ I said, ‘I know.’ He says, ‘That’s my favorite Metallica album.’ So I’m okay with those two.”
So I guess he’s not okay with everyone who doesn’t profess (truthfully or otherwise) to love St. Anger. So I guess he’s not okay 99.5% of everyone in the whole world. It must be so lonely being Bob Rock! And all because can’t admit to himself that he helped make one of the most notoriously-shitty albums of the century to date.
Come back tomorrow for the next installment of “Lie to Someone Closely Involved with a Terrible Metallica Album About the Quality of that Album to Spare That Person’s Feelings Month,” in which Jason Newsted discusses the time that George Harrison told him Load is better than anything The Beatles ever recorded.
