Former AC/DC Drummer Phil Rudd Pleads Guilty to Murder Threats and Drug Possession
Last year, on-again-off-again (currently off-again) AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested twice in as many months — once for threatening to kill some people and possession of cannabis and methamphetine, and once for a bar brawl. Despite the fact that having so much trouble with Johnny Law in such a short period of time is very odd, Rudd claimed he was innocent… although he did so while receiving a piggyback ride from a bodyguard he calls “Kangaroo,” which kinda made him look like a crazy person, thereby undercutting his argument.
Fortunately, Rudd’s attorneys are a lot less crazy than he is. And so Stuff.co.nz reports that earlier today, the drummer “pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and methamphetamine, and one of two counts of threatening to kill.” So that’s not surprising.
Sadly, it also may not provide Rudd with the motivation he needs to get his shit together: he’s currently out on bail (although unable to leave New Zealand) until his sentencing hearing on June 26, and his lawyer, Craig Tuck, “said [Rudd] would be seeking a discharge without conviction and no conviction had been entered.” In other words, Rudd’s punishment could very well end up being what amounts to a slap on the wrist.
